When it comes to creating a modern, city-feel wedding, Biljana and Marko’s celebration at L’Abattoir, in Gastown, Vancouver was a perfect example of how attention to detail can transform a venue into a stunning, memorable space. Their choice of a black and white theme, accented with modern greenery and gold details, brought sophistication and elegance to every aspect of their day. Can we just take a moment for Biljana and her dedication to the theme when it came to renting cutlery, glassware, and chairs for a restaurant venue?! I must say I was so impressed with the commitment to detail.
Biljana and Marko’s love story is one for the ages. Having met at 14, they’ve spent the last 16 years growing together. Their wedding was not only a celebration of their love but also a heartfelt thank you to the friends and family who have supported their journey. It was only fitting that one of their best friends officiated the ceremony, adding a personal touch to an already intimate day.
The day began at L’Abattoir in Gastown, where the ceremony setup left them in awe and set the tone for the entire day. After the ceremony, guests moved next door to The Greek for cocktail hour. The space was perfect, with delicious food and an inviting atmosphere. While guests mingled, I took the newlyweds outside for their photoshoot. I loved being in the heart of Vancouver’s historic Gastown to capture these portraits!
The reception transformed the ceremony space at L’Abattoir into a long-table dinner setup that was both cozy and chic. The exposed brick walls and simple tapered candles created a dark and moody ambiance, adding a touch of romance to the evening. Emotional speeches, heartfelt toasts, and dancing rounded out what Biljana and Marko described as the best day of their lives.
