Taryn & Brad had their first date back in 2019 and bonded over ABBA. Fast forward just four months, and they found themselves spending nearly every moment together when COVID hit. They even joked about being in the “relationship acceleration program” because everything felt so natural between them. A magical trip to Tofino sealed the deal early on, and they’ve been inseparable ever since, sharing a love of outdoor activities, creating things, and traveling the world together.
Brad’s proposal was straight out of a movie. On Taryn’s birthday in 2022, while in her favourite place—Florence, Italy—he popped the question right in front of her most favourite building in the world, the Duomo di Firenze. The only hitch? The real engagement ring didn’t arrive before they left, so Brad had to pick up a 5 Euro stand-in ring the night before at 10:00 PM! It was perfect and fit the adventurous spirit they share.
Their wedding day reflected that same playful dynamic and being at VanDusen Botanical Gardens was like stepping into a summer sunset. The soft, golden hues they chose for their colour palette complemented the lush surroundings of the garden perfectly. From the very first look to the last dance, the entire day was filled with so many personal touches that made their wedding feel authentically them.
The ceremony took place in the heart of the gardens, surrounded by towering trees and vibrant blooms. After the ceremony, we took a stroll around the gardens for some couple portraits. Taryn and Brad were so easygoing and up for anything, which made for some amazing candid shots which is exactly what they wanted for their wedding day. We hit some iconic spots around VanDusen, including a few tucked-away nooks that gave us those intimate, “just us” vibes. Their chemistry was undeniable, and I’m so glad we could take a few moments away from the hustle of the day to capture that connection.
The reception was a lively affair, with speeches that had everyone laughing and tearing up in equal measure. Taryn and Brad’s first dance was a showstopper—one of those moments you don’t forget. The night wrapped up with everyone dancing under the disco ball, which felt like the perfect ending to a day that was all about celebrating love and connection.
From start to finish, this wedding was one for the books!
